Printed Martini Glasses

Where etching cannot give you colour, ceramic ink can. The design is printed with a pigment that is then fired in a kiln, which fuses it to the glass. It is not a sticker, not a vinyl wrap and not a screen print that cures in air — and the difference shows up around service twelve hundred.

Kiln-fired ink survives a commercial glasswasher. Air-dried organic inks do not, whatever the supplier says: they craze, then ghost, then lift at the edges, and the glass ends up looking worse than an unbranded one. If a quote for printed glassware looks surprisingly cheap, this is usually why.

Full process colour is available, though most cocktail glassware looks better in one or two dense spot colours. A photographic image on a curved, transparent surface rarely reads as well on the shelf as it does in the artwork.
